Meta has unveiled a new suite of AI-powered tools designed to help advertisers create more innovative ads tailored to different audience segments across Facebook and Instagram.

AI-Powered Advertising Tools

These tools will allow advertisers to create multiple versions of the same ad while maintaining a consistent core message across every variation, using advanced language models powered by artificial intelligence. Other tools based on the same technology will enable advertisers to generate ad backgrounds and crop images automatically and intelligently. One of Meta’s new AI features can generate advertising backgrounds from a short description entered by the user. The image-cropping feature will also help advertisers produce creative assets in dimensions suitable for feed posts, Stories, and short-form Reels videos. Meta announced that these features were initially available to a select group of advertisers and would gradually expand to more advertisers during the summer, following positive early feedback. The previous month, Meta Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth said that the company planned to use generative AI technology in advertising. He added that Meta had formed a new generative AI team two months earlier and expected to launch related products and features during the year. Meta’s announcement followed positive financial results for the first quarter of 2023, which exceeded analysts’ expectations. Mark Zuckerberg also noted that the company had already begun developing a range of AI tools while remaining committed to advancing its virtual-reality and metaverse technologies.
