Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced price reductions for its virtual reality headsets in a move aimed at boosting sales. The company said in a statement that the price of the “Meta Quest 2” would fall from $499.99 to $429.99. It will also reduce the price of the “Meta Quest Pro” from $1,499.99 to $999.99, just six months after the headset was first unveiled. According to Sky News Arabia, Meta is seeking to renew interest in devices associated with the metaverse. The company’s investment in virtual reality applications has faced challenges in achieving the anticipated success. Meta stated: “Our goal has always been to create affordable, accessible hardware that enables as many people as possible to benefit from everything virtual reality technology has to offer.” Meta’s Reality Labs division, which is responsible for developing the company’s metaverse technologies, reportedly recorded losses of approximately $13.7 billion last year.
