The disappointing launch of Bard prompted Google CEO Sundar Pichai to send an internal memo asking employees to dedicate two to four hours each day to improving the chatbot, noting that the journey ahead would be a long one. According to CNBC, this move followed Bard’s limited impact after its launch on February 6, as well as inaccurate answers caused by a series of errors. The situation contributed to a 9% decline in Google’s share price. Google employees continued testing the chatbot in an effort to bring its accuracy in line with ChatGPT. Google had long assumed that its highly successful search engine, which had dominated the global market for more than two decades, would remain unchallenged. However, ChatGPT managed to capture the spotlight within just a few months.
