Launch of the Digital Games Association in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has recently witnessed the launch of the first dedicated electronic gaming association in the Kingdom and the GCC, bringing together digital gaming specialists to accelerate industry growth. Eng. Hussein Al-Juraibi, founder of the Digital Games Association and head of the Technical Group for the Game Industry, stated that the organization is a non-profit association committed to empowering the digital gaming sector across creativity and technical professionalism, supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). He added that the rapid worldwide rise of digital gaming—surging across user bases, commercial markets, and investment portfolios to become one of the premier entertainment industries—prompted a group of young Saudi male and female specialists to establish this association. Al-Juraibi noted that the association focuses on enhancing public awareness, expanding the stakeholder and enthusiast network, publishing industry research and benchmarks, and organizing national competitions across various disciplines, including esports, animation, and interactive game development. He underscored that the board of directors consists of distinguished Saudi experts with deep domain experience in digital gaming. Furthermore, the association is rolling out diverse initiatives to empower the Saudi gaming landscape, including game development courses, educational workshops, grassroots player training tournaments, and high-level forums with leading local and international developers, executives, and investors, with more programs slated for announcement soon.
